United is set to take two “white tailed” A380s on a trial basis. According to reports from Aviation News USA, these A380s are from the cancelled Skymark Japan order.
The report further suggests that if the trial is succesful, United may take further A380s from leasing company Amedeo which has 20 confirmed orders for the type. Talks are being held between Airbus, United and Amedeo. This may pave the way for other U.S. carriers to consider the A380.
