As part of the recently approved Singapore Airlines-Air New Zealand alliance, the Singaporean carrier will inaugurate A380 services for the first time from Singapore Changi to Auckland. Singapore Airlines operates twice daily services to Auckland using 777s. The SQ285 and SQ286 service will change from 777-300ER to A380 from 27 October 2014.

Air New Zealand is also set to resume services on the Auckland – Singapore from early December. The two carriers will once again code-share on each other’s services between New Zealand and Singapore. Singapore Airline also operates daily 777 services on the Singapore – Christchurch market. The two carriers will dominate this market, with QANTAS Group airline Jetstar, having suspended its thrice weekly A330 Auckland – Singapore service.
