QANTAS reintroduces First Class service to Hong Kong

QANTAS is set to reintroduce a First Class service on its A380 flights from Sydney to Hong Kong effective 01 December 2018 and at this stage until 31 March 2019. First Class service to Hong Kong on QANTAS aircraft last operated on 20 September 2014. Whilst the A380 has operated seasonally to Hong Kong for quite some time, the First Class cabin has been sold as a Business Class product with seating in that cabin available to top tier QANTAS and oneworld frequent flyers.

Hong Kong will be the second Asian station in the QANTAS network to offer First Class after Singapore, which saw the return of First Class in March this year on the carrier’s flagship QF1/2 service to London via Singapore and on Melbourne – Singapore flights after a 5 year hiatus.

With the re-introduction of First Class, QANTAS will be the only airline to offer this cabin between Sydney and Hong Kong, with Cathay Pacific offering only Business, Premium Economy and Economy Class on their A330/777-300 operated flights. Virgin Australia launched non-stop flights from Sydney to Hong Kong in July using two class Airbus A330-200 offering Business and Economy Class only.

Post 31 March 2019, flights on the Sydney  – Hong Kong market will be operated by a mix of Airbus A330s and Boeing 787-9 which do not offer a First Class cabin.
