In a very bizarre and potentially very embarassing  situation for QANTAS  it seems that the latest Martin Grant designed uniforms are actually available for purchase to the general public through online retailer AliExpress. While there is no direct mention to QANTAS with the garment being marketed as a “Celeb Patchwork Evening Dress” there is no mistaking it is based on the Martin Grant design. It even features Ms Miranda Kerr in one of the original promo shots.

Airlines are very protective of their uniforms as this is an integral part of their image and brand integrity. Strict guidelines are in place on how to wear the uniform and also where it can be worn in order to maintain the brand. In this case having it sold to the public can be potentially damaging to the airline. It not known how AliExpress obtained the design however it could be an inferior copy.

The uniform is being sold for around USD 19.50 with free shipping from China to Australia. China has very relaxed copyright laws and “knock offs” or copies from the originals is very common.
