QANTAS will be increasing capacity on services between Sydney and Auckland during the British & Irish Lions Rugby Tour of New Zealand for June and July 2017. This good news for Rugby fans but even better news for fans and planespotters of the “Queen of the Skies” is that selected flights will be operated by the Boeing 747. There will be a total of five return QANTAS 747 operated services between Sydney and Auckland from 23 June to 12 July (refer to table below). The 747s are configured in a three class Business, Premium Economy and Economy configuration, however the Premium Economy cabin will be sold and marketed as Economy Class. Seats in the Premium Economy cabin (rows 34 through to 39) will be available to top tier passengers of QANTAS, Emirates and partner oneworld Alliance frequent flyer programs. During this period there will also be supplementary 737 and A330 operated flights to meet expected demand. Regular widebody QANTAS services from Sydney to Auckland using A330s will commence from 13 July 17, when Emirates will cease their A380 Sydney-Auckland flights.
