Air New Zealand’s monopoly on Auckland to Honolulu services will come to an end from March next year, with Hawaiian Airlines announcing thrice weekly 767-300ER services HNL-AKL.
“This new service will not only help grow the attractive Hawaiian market across a number of islands, but also will offer connections to a wide range of great city destinations in the mainland United States and New Zealand,” Glenn Wedlock, Auckland Airport, General Manager.
Air NZ recently increased capacity to HNL using 777-200s instead of 767s.
HA’s Australasian network includes SYD, the recently announced BNE and now AKL. Melbourne is rumoured to be on HA’s radar as well.
