Emirates scales back Australian services

Emirates has announced adjustments and frequency reductions on its Australian services from Dubai including selected services operating via Singapore and Bangkok. Selected services will see capacity reductions from Airbus A380 to Boeing 777 aircraft.

The changes affect the following services.

Flights between Dubai and Adelaide
Effective 28 October until 30 November 2018 and also 1 February until 15 April 2019, Emirates will operate a B777-200LR on flights EK440 and EK441 between Dubai and Adelaide instead of the current B777-300ER. This also means that a First Class cabin will not be offered for Adelaide flights.

Flights between Dubai and Perth
Effective 7 November until 30 November 2018 and also 5 February until 15 April 2019, Emirates will operate 11 flights a week between Dubai and Perth instead of the current 14 weekly flights. EK424 will continue to operate on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday only. The Airbus A380 nonstop services, EK420 and EK421, will continue to operate daily.

Flights between Singapore and Melbourne
Effective 15 January 2019, Emirates will operate a B777-300ER on flights EK404 and EK405 between Singapore and Melbourne instead of the current A380 service. From 2 November 2018 until 20 November 2018, the same flights will also be served by a B777-300ER aircraft.

Flights between Dubai and Sydney via Bangkok
Effective 15 January 2019, the daily EK418 and EK419 Dubai-Bangkok-Sydney v.v. services will operate a B777-300ER instead of the current A380.

Flights between Dubai and Sydney
Effective 27 October 2018, the daily EK416 and EK417 Dubai-Sydney v.v. services will operate with a B777-300ER instead of the current A380.

Where applicable the corresponding QANTAS marketed, Emirates operated flight will also be affected by these changes. Passengers affected by these changes should contact the marketing carrier for further assistance and advice.

In a notice to the Australian travel industry, Emirates states it “remains committed to serving our customers in Australia with 91 weekly flights from Dubai and will continue to serve customers travelling to and from Australia with our award-winning experience.”
