Etihad adds Rome to its international network

Etihad Airways will add Rome Fiumicino to its international network from 15 July 2014. The new service will operate daily with two class Airbus A330-200 on the Abu Dhabi – Rome. This will be Etihad’s second Italian city after Milan Malpensa, where daily flights are also operated from the Abu Dhabi hub.

Etihad presently serves Rome in a code-share arrangement with ALITALIA operated A330-200 which operate five times weekly. These services will continue bring the total number of weekly Etihad/ALITALIA services to Rome to twelve. The new Etihad flights will also carry the AZ code in collaboration with ALITALIA.

“Travellers will now be able to connect in Rome to other cities on Alitalia’s domestic and European network; to destinations like Bolzano, Tirana and Zagreb with Etihad Regional; and to Belgrade with Air Serbia,” Mr James Hogan, President and CEO of Etihad Airways.

Etihad code-shares on ALITALIA operated services from Rome to Milan, Bucharest, Sofia, Vienna, Venice, Madrid, Malaga, Budapest, Malta and Barcelona.

ALITALIA code-shares on Etihad operated services from the Abu Dhabi hub to Australia and selected destinations in Asia.
