QANTAS will inaugurate Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner long haul services from 01 September 2018. The carrier’s daily QF15/QF16 Brisbane – Los Angeles flight, presently operated by Boeing 747-400s, will be replaced by the Dreamliner. The 787 will continue from Los Angeles to New York Kennedy Airport as an extension of the QF11/12 flight, also presently operated by the 747.
The 747 will continue to operate on the Brisbane – Los Angeles market with a new thrice weekly service as flight QF55/56 from 01 September to 30 November 2018. Once the eighth 787 arrives, the QF55/56 will increase to 4 weekly flights from 01 December meaning the 747 will be phased out of the Brisbane market. After this time, QANTAS 747s will operated exclusively out of Sydney.
