Singapore Airlines not going ahead with Sydney-Jakarta flights

Singapore Airlines is delaying the launch of non-stop Sydney – Jakarta services which were meant to start on 26 November 2016. In a press release to Australian travel agents, the carrier states:

“SIA had earlier announced that it planned to launch new three-times-weekly Singapore-Jakarta-Sydney flights on 23 November 2016. The Indonesian civil aviation authorities had issued SIA written approval, and SIA had secured the necessary airport slots. However, SIA has been informed by the Indonesian civil aviation authorities that they are now unable to approve the flights due to runway maintenance works at Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, which also affect other airlines.”

There is no mention of when the Sydney – Jakarta flights will commence if at all. The airline will instead offer additional non-stop services between Sydney and Singapore.
