Air Canada’s previously announced thrice weekly services from Vancouver to Brisbane, scheduled to start 01 June 2016, will be boosted to daily services from 17 June 2016.
Benjamin Smith, President, Passenger Airlines, said customer response to Air Canada’s announcement of the only non-stop flights between Canada and Brisbane had been very positive. “As a result, Air Canada will boost its new Vancouver-Brisbane service to daily flights,” Smith said. “This expanded service also underscores Vancouver airport’s importance and attractiveness. The seamless connections made possible for visitors by its in-transit pre-clearance facilities, combined with our extensive domestic and U.S. network radiating from Vancouver, position Vancouver to be the preferred gateway hub for trans-Pacific travel to and from North America.”
This expansion has been as a result of a recently revised bi-lateral air services agreement between Canada and Australia allowing expanded frequency and services between the two countries,
Air Canada will use Boeing 787-8 DreamLiner aircraft with 20 seats in Business, 21 in Premium Economy and 210 Economy Class on the new Brisbane flights.
Air Canada also offers daily non-stop services from Vancouver to Sydney using Boeing 777-200LR aircraft.
QANTAS on the other hand operates seasonal thrice weekly services Sydney – Vancouver during peak seasons with 747 aircraft.
