British Airways has partnered with Heathrow Express and First Great Western to offer a single booking that combines rail and air travel. The partnership will take effect from 05 December 2014 and is available through travel agents. Up to 11 First Great Western stations will be offered. This move is designed to allow BA customers to travel regionally in the United Kingdom to places where there are no airports or air service close by.
Under a single ticket, customers will be able to travel from such places as St Austell to Singapore or from Bath to Los Angeles connecting with the Heathrow Express at Paddington station to Heathrow T5 and T3. This is included in the cost of the ticket. Frequency is every 15 minutes from Paddington to Heathrow.
According to British Airways “The combined booking takes away the stress and fear of missing a flight, if a train is delayed or a connection missed, by giving customers the peace of mind they’ll be on the next available flight – and even get overnight accommodation if the next service isn’t on the same day. Customers will also be able to get on the next available train service, if their flight is delayed.”
Stephen Humphreys, British Airways Head of UK&I Sales and Marketing, said: “This is a great new way for our customers living in Wales and the West Country to get on track right from the start to enjoy a terrific trip with British Airways.”
