Malaysia Airlines returns to Darwin

Malaysia Airlines will resume services to Darwin from 01 November 2013. Malaysia last served Darwin in the late 90s with 737 aircraft. These new Kuala Lumpur (Sepang) – Darwin services will be operated five times weekly new 2 Class 737-800 aircraft. This will be the carrier’s sixth Australian city after Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. All services from Kuala Lumpur to Australia and New Zealand, except Darwin use the  A330.

Flights will connect with MH European services offering customers in the Northern Territory direct access to theoneworld Alliance for the first time.

These new services will add competition to Singapore Airlines’ regional subsidiary Silk Air services to Singapore and of course to Jetstar services to Asia from the Darwin hub. Philippine Airlines also recently commenced daily flights from Manila.
